The Center for Education Reform changes laws, minds and cultures to allow good schools to flourish. PR responsibilities include oversight of media relations, social media outreach, web presence, publication rollouts, traditional messaging and editing the organization's blog (one of the most trafficked outlets for education reform commentary and news).

This Is America with Dennis Wholey is a weekly public affairs series broadcast throughout the U.S. on PBS stations, and internationally via Voice of America Television. Each week, This Is America brings viewers one-on-one personal conversations, roundtable panel discussions, and on-location documentaries. Since 2003, guests on This Is America have included: former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Fox News' Bill O'Reilly, former President Jimmy Carter, Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, Senator Joe Biden, Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, Sir David Frost, playwright Edward Albee, United Nations' Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and many others.

I Believe is a 26-part public television series broadcast throughout the U.S. on PBS stations, and internationally on Voice of America Television. Each week, host Dennis Wholey visits a different church, synagogue, mosque, temple, or house of worship to learn more about that religion or faith.

Gimme6 is a curriculum-based children's television program focused on relationship building and problem solving among Cypriot youth. The show itself and its reception by audiences was carefully designed, monitored and evaluated by co-producers Common Ground Productions and Sesame Workshop. Featuring a dynamic cast composed of ethnic Greek, ethnic Turkish, African, Asian and English actors. The series was broadcast in Cyprus in 2001-2002. (www.sfcg.org)

Toy Safety PSA with Tom Paxton

Timeframe: December 2000
Role: Associate Producer

Broadcast in December of 2000, and featuring folk singer Tom Paxton, this spot was part of a public service announcement (PSA) campaign for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

 
 
About Me

Jonathan is currently the Director of Public Relations for the Washington, DC-based Center for Education Reform.

In a previous life, he worked in television, most recently producing two series broadcast on PBS.

Jonathan has been involved in developing message-oriented media productions in and for countries as diverse as Nigeria, Macedonia, and Cyprus.

He holds a B.A. from the Catholic University of America and, though never involved in law enforcement, has a strong affinity for coffee and donuts.
